A famous name is born. Since 1882, our salt has been made with the same traditional artisan methods from the coastal town of Maldon. It is unchanging yet ever-changing, constant yet continuously challenging. The salt always stays the same.

Four generations of master salt makers have been hand harvesting the naturally formed pyramid flakes that have become Maldon‘s signature. The Osborne‘s have been making the best quality salt for a century. That‘s a long while and a lot of salt for a family both custodians of an ancient culinary tradition and creators of a brand recognised the world over.

Granted the Royal Warrant in 2012
In 2010 Her Majesty The Queen was welcomed to the salt works in Maldon. Two years later we were granted a Royal Warrant as official purveyors of sea salt.

Distinct in both taste and texture. DISTINCTIVE SHAPE Our curious pyramid crystals have always been our company trademark. So much of the flavor of sea salt is in the shape of the crystals and the way they are experienced on the tongue. Maldon’s flakes release their saltiness with sweet precision and add another layer of texture and crunch. They are tactile and best served by taking a generous pinch and crushing between fingers and thumb
